Episode Highlights

[00:53] Making Conversations on Letting Go an Audiobook

  • Letting go is a topic close to Dr. Najwa’s heart. Her audience posed many questions about this topic. So, she created this body of work to answer and guide them through letting go.

[02:01] “I wanted Conversations on Letting Go to be like a conversation you're having with someone that you deeply trust and helping you to let go. And I have the honor and privilege of having the trust of my audience.” - Click Here to Tweet This

  • In the unscripted parts, she answers questions that may pop up in people’s minds as they go through the exercises.

[05:57] Inspiration behind Conversations on Letting Go

  • Dr. Najwa’s fourth book, Welcome Home, did well in the audio format. She took this as a sign that people enjoy listening to her work.

  • She has touched upon letting go in her previous works. However, she wanted the audiobook to be wholly about letting go in general in life, whether it’s about relationships or careers and more.

  • Letting go isn’t about the person or thing you are releasing. Rather, it is about staying true to yourself.

[09:48] “Letting go is about holding on to yourself and leaving behind anything or anyone that makes your journey to yourself harder. And that makes you have to run away from yourself.” - Click Here to Tweet This

  • The audiobook is a holistic approach to letting go. The practical meditations and affirmations in the book validate the pain of letting go. They also aim to give you the push to let go.

[11:59] How to Let Go When You Feel You Are At Fault

  • People with people-pleasing tendencies believe and validate their worth through their relationships. The more they increase their value through the relationship, the more valued they feel.

  • You are not what you do, but you are who you are.

  • Work toward being aware that you have value for being yourself. Once you do this, you can start letting go of people and things that do not give you the respect you deserve.

[16:07] “On your journey of getting from that place to the new place where you stand in your truth, you are your authentic self. You don't betray yourself. You don't run away from yourself to feel safe in someone else's arms. And you don't betray yourself. ” - Click Here to Tweet This

  • The goal of letting go is to trust and be compassionate to yourself and your journey.

[18:41] The Purpose of Loneliness

  • To get through loneliness, you have to welcome it.

  • Loneliness and similarly difficult emotions protect you from something that is causing you pain.

  • Allow your emotions to speak and connect with you. This way, you can change the limiting belief you have nurtured for so long.

[22:35] “I welcome it. I don't make a part of myself feel like I'm abandoning it. So yeah, that's how I go about it. So the way that you would deal with it is to give it a voice. Listen to it and tell it to trust you.” - Click Here to Tweet This

  • You will get to a point in your journey where you are surrounded by people who see you for who you are.

[25:51] How to Help Loved Ones From Getting Stuck

  • People know when they’re in a bad situation. If they keep falling into the same bad situations, there is a reason from their past experiences that led to it.

  • We stay in “safe” situations because we have survived them before, even when it is harmful to us. When our loved ones need to get out of the same patterns, the best thing we can do is help them figure out why. Then, we stick with them through their dark times.

  • Figuring out why you’re stuck starts by tuning into your body.

  • When you are present at the moment, your body trusts you more. When this happens, you can make the right decisions for yourself.

[36:01] “And you have to trust in your own ability to walk. That's hard, you're gonna feel a bit wobbly and scared for a while. But then you realize how much better and easier your life is when you're walking on your own and not with that thing that was either weighing you down or dictating what speed you walk at.” - Click Here to Tweet This

[37:05] Giving Time When Going Through Relationship Changes

  • You will know how much time you need to get through your situation. Putting a deadline on your healing journey is going to push healing away.

  • Give yourself the time to think and heal your authentic self without meeting someone else’s deadline.

  • Become the biggest believer in yourself.

  • Cultivating the trust to listen to your body’s signals doesn’t have a timeline.
