Perimenopause & Menopause Coaching

Rosie Acosta at home, perimenopause and menopause coaching

Quick Answer

Perimenopause coaching is one-to-one support for the emotional and practical side of midlife hormonal change — anxiety, anger, sleep loss, and the sense of not recognising yourself. It is not medical treatment and not psychotherapy. It works alongside medical care, helping you build tools and steadiness while your body is changing.

This Might Be for You If

Most women who come to this work have already tried to manage it alone for a while, and have often been told it is just stress.

  • Anxiety or anger arrives without a cause you can point to
  • You are waking at three in the morning and it is affecting everything else
  • You have snapped at people you love and cannot explain why
  • You feel like a stranger to yourself and have not said that out loud
  • Your symptoms have been minimised, by a clinician or by you
  • You want practical tools rather than reassurance that it will pass

If any of that lands, the symptom pages are a good place to start reading — anxiety, anger, and sleep. Coaching is for when reading is no longer the thing you need.

What Working Together Looks Like

Sessions are private, one to one, and online. The work is practical rather than open-ended conversation: identifying what is actually happening, building tools you can use in the moment, and coming back to what did and did not hold.

Typically That Includes

  • Mindfulness and nervous-system practices adapted to your symptoms
  • Language for conversations with partners and family
  • Preparing for medical appointments so you are taken seriously
  • Tracking patterns rather than guessing at them
  • Work on the self-criticism that tends to arrive alongside the symptoms
  • Support between sessions when something difficult comes up

What Coaching Is Not

Being clear about this matters more than it costs.

  • It is not medical care. Rosie does not diagnose, prescribe, or advise on hormone therapy — those conversations belong with a clinician
  • It is not psychotherapy, and it is not a substitute for it
  • It is not a supplement protocol or a programme to follow
  • It will not stop a hot flush or a night sweat

What it is: practical, mindfulness-based support for the emotional weight of a physical transition — working alongside your medical care, not instead of it. If what you need is therapy or a doctor, Rosie will say so.

Support Through Midlife Change

Perimenopause asks a lot of people who are usually the ones holding everything else together. Having someone alongside you for it is not an admission that you cannot cope. It is a reasonable response to a demanding stretch of life.

Why Support Is Hard to Find

Perimenopause sits awkwardly between specialisms. Medical appointments are short and focused on symptoms; therapy addresses a different question; friends may be going through it silently themselves. Many women describe having nowhere to take the whole of it. During that period, people may experience a wide range of emotions including frustration, grief, relief, shame, exhaustion, or self-doubt.

There Is No Universal Timeline

People experience this differently. The stage of the transition, sleep quality, available support, previous experiences, relationships, and other sources of stress can all influence how demanding this period feels and how long it lasts. Rather than expecting it to resolve on a schedule, it can help to treat it as a process that shifts over time.

Where Mindfulness May Help

Mindfulness encourages present-moment awareness of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without immediately judging or reacting to them. During a difficult stretch, this kind of awareness may help some people notice the physical signs earlier, recognize what they are feeling, and create more space before deciding how to respond.

Research has explored mindfulness-based practices for stress, anxiety, and emotional well-being, with some studies showing potential benefits. Mindfulness does not change the hormonal shifts underneath perimenopause, but it can be one supportive practice for meeting them with greater awareness and self-compassion.

AN IMPORTANT DISTINCTION

Coaching is supportive and educational, and there are things it is not the right tool for. Escalating anxiety, panic attacks, thoughts of harming yourself, persistent low mood, or difficulty functioning all warrant conversation with a qualified healthcare or mental health professional. Decisions about hormone therapy belong with a clinician. Rosie will say so directly if that is what you need.

Perimenopause Coaching FAQ

What is a menopause coach?

A menopause coach provides practical, non-medical support for the emotional and everyday side of menopause and perimenopause. The role is educational and supportive rather than clinical, and it works alongside medical care.

Is menopause coaching the same as therapy?

No. Coaching is supportive and educational. It does not involve mental health diagnosis or treatment and is not a substitute for care from a licensed mental health professional.

Can coaching help with perimenopause anxiety and anger?

Coaching can help you recognise what is happening earlier, build practices for the moments themselves, and reduce the self-criticism that often follows. It does not change the hormonal shifts underneath, which is why it works best alongside medical care.

Do I need a diagnosis to work with a coach?

No. Many women begin before anything has been formally confirmed, which is often precisely the point where support is hardest to find.

What happens on a discovery call?

It is a short conversation about what you are experiencing and what you are hoping for. There is no obligation, and if coaching is not the right fit Rosie will say so and suggest where else to look.

Can a coach advise on hormone therapy?

No. Decisions about hormone therapy or any medical treatment belong with a qualified clinician. Coaching can help you prepare for those conversations and document what you are experiencing beforehand.
